Grace for the 2010 HCI Annual Dinner
composed and delivered by Roger Bishop

North Somercotes Lord, we gathered here,
To cast our votes for another year.
The business is over now let's have some fun.
To praise and critique how our club is run.

So drink and be merry and eat your fill,
Indigestion and headaches can be cured with a pill.
So bless us Lord, and all that we eat,
And keep us safe until next we meet

                                       Amen

Modification Trophy Competition at the AGM
Kindly submitted by Nigel

This year there were seven members who submitted twelve modifications for consideration.
Again I was able to include two first time ralliers as judges. This shows the modifications through new eyes.

Once again there were two entries that replaced the heavy large table as supplied by Hymer.
One member had modified the front of a bunk and cushion to make the seat more usable and access to the overhead lockers easier.
One member modified the bulkhead behind the drivers seat to enable it to be turned through 90 degrees.
Another modified the bathroom mirror to enable the space behind it to be used.  Also used spring door stops used in the home as door catches to keep the bathroom or wardrobe doors open.
One used a plastic sign to make a draw separator for cups and glasses to stop them clinking.
Another on a new van moved the mirror and coat hangers by the door entrance to make a glass storage cupboard.  In addition made a dropdown flap to provide an additional seat when entertaining.
The provision of a splash guard by the sink to prevent cooking splashes spoiling the seat upholstery.  Made an opening in the bulkhead by the entrance door to place shoes when entering the van.  Fixed an additional curtain rail across the van by the wardrobe so that clothes can be changed without closing the van blinds.
After much consideration the judges chose the fitting of personal panic alarms to the entrance doors to warn of unauthorised entry when asleep.  This is for vans that do not have zoned alarm systems.
This was submitted by Peter Milne.
