In the meantime:
The MMM magazine published an article by Graham Hambly in the March 2007 edition(pp185-190). The MMM editor, Mike Jago, and the article author, Graham Hambly, have kindly given permission for us to include some of the advice.
As you might expect, the article covers the whole spectrum of motorhome servicing and therefore includes advice concerning Peugeot and VW base vehicles. However, the final paragraph of the article may be of interest to Hymer owners and is reproduced here:
If you are still having difficulty finding a garage locally, then it may be worthwhile asking if your area health authority's ambulance servicing depots will carry out servicing/MOT for private vehicles.
Alternatively, your local Road Transport Enforcement Department of the Vehicle Inspectorate should be able to advise you of garages capable of servicing large vehicles (usually HGVs) and those which can offer Class IV MOT testing.
(See telephone directory for local health authority and Vehicle Inspectorate contact numbers.) A final suggestion is to try BT Motor Transport Workshops (we are told that some are now servicing private vehicles).
For your nearest depot telephone 0800 671102/679122 or log on to www.btfleet.
The article then goes on to list potentially useful facilities by county, well worth having a look. At present the MMM has no plans to publish the list online but I imagine that the list will be updated and reproduced at intervals.
